Revolutionary Revenue-Sharing Model
In a significant move supporting creators, Prasar Bharati established a revenue-sharing model where content creators receive 90% of revenue generated from their programming, with the broadcaster retaining just 10%. This unprecedented arrangement demonstrates serious commitment to empowering India’s digital creator community.
The prime-time slot airs Monday through Friday at 7:00 PM with repeat telecasts at 9:30 AM the following day, ensuring maximum reach for creator content on national television.

Aligning with Orange Economy Vision
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that 2026 will be the year of major reforms for Prasar Bharati, with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting undergoing complete restructuring. These reforms orient institutions like Doordarshan and All India Radio toward industry participation, new-generation creators, and technology-driven processes.
Referring to the WAVES platform launched last year, Vaishnaw noted its role in boosting the creator economy—adding one crore youth, generating employment opportunities, and contributing nearly ₹5,000 crore to the ecosystem.
Empowering Diverse Voices
Minister of State Dr. L. Murugan emphasized how creators from small towns and linguistic communities produce, edit, and distribute content independently, building livelihoods without large studios. Doordarshan now provides these creators a credible national and global platform aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision for the Orange Economy.
MIB Secretary Sanjay Jaju highlighted that Creator’s Corner will build a vibrant, responsible, and inclusive ecosystem, recognizing creators as complete content producers rather than just on-screen talent. Initially launching on DD News, the initiative will gradually expand across all Doordarshan channels.
Wide-Ranging Content Themes
Creator’s Corner features content across diverse themes including news and current affairs, culture, travel, cuisine, art and literature, music and dance, health and wellness, education, science and technology, inspiring stories, environment and sustainable development, and entertainment.
This breadth enables participation from creators across languages, regions, and genres—democratizing access to national broadcasting infrastructure previously reserved for traditional media professionals.
Mutually Beneficial Partnership
The initiative represents mutually beneficial collaboration. Digital creators gain credible platform and extensive Prasar Bharati/DD News reach to showcase work, while enabling Prasar Bharati to curate innovative, diverse content resonating with younger audiences.
For creators accustomed to algorithmically optimized feeds and instant virality on social platforms, scheduled broadcasts offer different advantages—institutional legitimacy, national reach, and visibility beyond social media algorithms.

From Gatekeeper to Platform
Creator’s Corner marks a fundamental shift in public broadcasting philosophy—from traditional content gatekeeper to platform enabling discovery, credibility, and scale for digital-first creators. This transformation acknowledges that content no longer originates exclusively from Mandi House studios.
Independent content creators, storytellers, educators, science communicators, artists, and digital journalists can submit original content to become part of India’s public broadcasting transformation. The initiative formalizes the creator economy while maintaining broadcast quality standards.
Strategic Reform Initiative
The launch represents the first step in Prasar Bharati’s broader reform journey. With comprehensive institutional and technological changes planned, 2026 positions India’s public broadcaster to compete effectively in the digital age while fulfilling its public service mandate through contemporary content formats.
