Bina Refinery Expansion

The first contract covers Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) for new polypropylene and Butene-1 units at BPCL’s Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh. These facilities will produce 550 kilotons per annum of polypropylene and 50 KTPA of Butene-1.

These materials serve as essential building blocks for widely used products including packaging materials, pipes, and automotive components. The contract forms part of BPCL’s ambitious Bina Petchem and Refinery Expansion Project, which encompasses refinery capacity increases alongside construction of new cracker and downstream petrochemical units.

India’s First PRFCC Unit

The second contract involves Engineering, Procurement and Construction management (EPsCm) services for a 3 million metric tons per annum Petro Resid Fluidized Catalytic Cracker Unit (PRFCC) at Mumbai Refinery in Maharashtra.

This groundbreaking facility will be India’s first PRFCC unit, converting heavy refinery residues into lighter, higher-value products. The scope includes auxiliary units along with associated offsites and utilities, representing a significant technological advancement for India’s refining sector.

Decades of Collaboration

These awards strengthen more than 20 years of collaboration between Technip Energies and BPCL. With strong local presence across Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Dahej, plus over 50 years of operational experience in India, Technip Energies continues advancing the country’s energy infrastructure.

Davendra Kumar, Managing Director of Technip Energies India, expressed honor in supporting BPCL’s development plans, noting that the awards reflect client confidence in their engineering capabilities and project delivery expertise.

Strategic Significance

The combined contract value represents a “large” award for Technip Energies, totaling between €250 million and €500 million in revenue. These awards were recorded in Q4 2025 across the Project Delivery and Technology, Products & Services segments.

Technip Energies, a global technology and engineering powerhouse with 17,000+ employees across 34 countries, generated €6.9 billion in revenues during 2024. The company maintains leadership positions in LNG, hydrogen, ethylene, sustainable chemistry, and CO₂ management.
