The Raja Saab Storms Overseas Box Office: Prabhas’ Horror-Comedy Hits USD 1.3M Before Release

Pan-Indian superstar Prabhas is ready to light up the Sankranthi weekend with his horror-comedy The Raja Saab. With just two days until release, the film has already grossed an impressive USD 1.3 million (₹11.75 crore) in overseas advance bookings, signaling massive opening day potential.

The Raja Saab Advance Booking Breakdown

North America Leads the Charge

The horror-comedy has dominated pre-sales in North America, traditionally a stronghold for Telugu cinema. In the US alone, The Raja Saab sold over 25,000 tickets across 1,400+ shows in 513 locations, grossing USD 715,000. Industry experts predict a significant jump in the next 48 hours before premiere shows begin.

According to Box Office Mojo, Prabhas continues to be one of the most bankable stars in overseas markets, with each release generating substantial advance interest.

Trailer Reception and Expectations

Released last week, the trailer received mixed reactions online. The film promises a unique blend of horror and comedy, directed by Maruthi and featuring an ensemble cast including Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, and Boman Irani.

While advance sales lag slightly behind Prabhas’ previous releases, The Raja Saab benefits from the unexpected postponement of Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, eliminating major competition for the Sankranthi slot.

What’s Driving the Buzz?

The Raja Saab is marketed as Indian cinema’s most expensive horror-comedy, featuring high-production VFX, Prabhas in a fresh avatar, and a talented supporting cast. Strategic Sankranthi festival timing adds to the anticipation.

Success depends on word-of-mouth, as the genre blend represents a creative risk for Prabhas.

Pan-India Appeal and Future Prospects

Releasing January 10, 2026, The Raja Saab targets multi-language audiences. The Sankranthi festival traditionally delivers blockbuster results for Telugu cinema.

Analysts expect international pre-sales to cross USD 2 million by premiere time. Beyond this, Prabhas has Fauzi lined up, making 2026 crucial for the pan-Indian superstar.
