XEV 9e-Inspired Design Language

The teaser reveals dramatic front fascia transformation borrowing XEV 9e’s futuristic elements: completely redesigned grille with new pattern, twin-pod LED headlamps replacing single units, inverted L-shaped/7-shaped LED DRLs, revised bumpers, and fresh alloy wheels. Spy shots confirm minimal sheet-metal changes—doors, fenders, bonnet remain unchanged.

The rear adopts connected full-width LED light bar borrowed from XEV 9e, replacing individual tail-lamps. New ruby velvet red shade similar to XEV 9e hints at refreshed color palette beyond the traditional options.

Triple-Screen Interior Revolution

The cabin receives majority of updates, sharing electronic architecture with XEV 9e. Confirmed triple-screen layout includes 10.25-inch digital driver display, 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and dedicated 12.3-inch co-driver entertainment screen—unprecedented in this segment.

Additional premium features: 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, massaging front seats, rear ventilated seats (6-seater variants), sliding middle-row seats, multi-color ambient lighting, second wireless charger, BYOD rear entertainment support, auto-dimming IRVM, panoramic sunroof, and brown leatherette upholstery.

Proven Powertrains Continue

Under the hood, XUV 7XO retains segment-leading engines: 2.0L turbo-petrol (200 bhp/380 Nm) and 2.2L turbo-diesel (155 bhp/360 Nm or 185 bhp/450 Nm). Both pair with 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions. AWD continues on diesel variants.

Even after 4+ years, no competitor matches XUV700’s raw performance figures—XUV 7XO maintains this advantage while adding refinement improvements.

Strategic Timing Against Rivals

The facelift arrives as competition intensifies from updated Tata Safari (new petrol option incoming), Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra’s own Scorpio N. With the electric XEV 9S now available, Mahindra positions XUV 7XO as its ICE flagship for buyers preferring conventional powertrains.

Production of the current XUV700 ends with XUV 7XO’s arrival, marking a complete replacement rather than co-existence. The “7XO” naming follows Mahindra’s new nomenclature after XUV 3XO (XUV300 facelift).
