Elon Musk’s Starlink has officially announced India pricing after months of anticipation! The satellite internet service will cost ₹8,600 monthly for residential users, plus a one-time ₹34,000 hardware fee—positioning itself as a premium connectivity solution for remote areas rather than competing with urban broadband.
Table of Contents
Starlink India Plan Breakdown
| Component | Price | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly Subscription | ₹8,600 | Unlimited data, 99.9% uptime |
| Hardware Kit | ₹34,000 (one-time) | Dish, router, cables, mounting equipment |
| Trial Period | 30 days | Risk-free testing |
| Speed | Up to 250 Mbps | Weather-resistant connectivity |
| Initial Cost | ₹42,600 | First month total (subscription + hardware) |
What You Get
The residential plan promises unlimited data with 99.9% uptime guarantee, even during adverse weather conditions. The ₹34,000 hardware kit includes a satellite dish, Generation 3 router, 15-meter Starlink cable, power supply, and kickstand for easy plug-and-play installation.
Starlink’s 30-day free trial lets users test reliability and performance before committing, which is crucial given the premium pricing—approximately 10 times higher than entry-level Jio or Airtel broadband plans.
Gateway Stations Ready
Starlink has established gateway earth stations in Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Noida. These critical relay points enable low-latency connectivity between satellites and ground receivers, ensuring stable internet access across India’s diverse terrain.
The company received a five-year license from India’s Department of Telecommunications in July 2025 and began technical testing in October. Full commercial operations await spectrum allocation and final security compliance clearance, expected in early 2026.
Target Market: Remote & Underserved Areas
Elon Musk emphasized that Starlink doesn’t intend to compete with terrestrial internet systems, focusing instead on remote locations like deep forests, barren lands, or mountains where conventional internet barely exists. For urban users with 4G/5G and fiber access, Starlink serves as backup connectivity rather than primary broadband.
Starlink is also setting up operational hubs in Bengaluru and Mumbai, with recent job postings for payments managers, accountants, and tax analysts signaling imminent launch preparations.
