Celtic’s 1-0 loss to then last-placed Ross County was the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of Lennon’s time as manager of the Scottish club. They are currently second in the league and are 18 points behind champions-elect and arch-rivals Rangers.

The club has decided to give the responsibility of the first team to John Kennedy, who was Lennon’s assistant during his spell in charge. The new interim boss takes over his first game in charge against Aberdeen this Saturday.
