Step-by-Step: Unlocking Meteor Flight

Step 1: Start the Afterglow Quest Navigate to your Journal’s Jianghu Legacy tab and select “Afterglow”—it’s the fifth quest listed. Unlike other side quests, you don’t need prerequisites to begin this one. For more quest walkthroughs, check our Where Winds Meet quest guides.

Step 2: Find the Fisherman Travel to Moonveil Mountain in Qinghe and locate a martial master disguised as an ordinary fisherman. This NPC will challenge you to prove your worth through combat trials.

Step 3: Complete the Combat Challenge Defeat the fisherman’s combat test. Use dodge mechanics and parry timing from our boss combat strategies to succeed.

Step 4: Learn Meteor Flight After victory, the fisherman reveals his identity and teaches you Meteor Flight. You’ll receive a trial use immediately—but there’s a catch!

The Afterglow Pendant Requirement

When you attempt using Meteor Flight after the Afterglow quest, the screen cuts to black and transports you back to the fisherman’s beach. He explains that flying in Qinghe is restricted, and you need an Afterglow Pendant to use Meteor Flight freely.

How to Get the Afterglow Pendant:

1. Open your map and check your Qinghe Exploration level (bottom-left corner)
2. Earn Exploration Points by discovering locations, completing quests, and opening chests
3. Reach Exploration Level 4 to unlock the Afterglow Pendant reward
4. Navigate to Level 4 rewards and claim your pendant

💡 Pro Tip: Focus on exploration activities like finding cliffside shrines and hidden caves to rapidly boost your Exploration rank!

How to Use Meteor Flight

Once you have both the skill and pendant:

• PC: Hold spacebar while airborne
• Controller: Hold jump button (A/X) in mid-air
• Your character launches skyward with blazing spear effects
• Tap jump again mid-flight for additional aerial steps
• Glide gracefully to the ground when momentum ends

The skill provides excellent vertical height, making it perfect for reaching mountaintop locations and crossing canyons.

Meteor Flight vs Other Lightness Skills

Where Winds Meet offers four flight options with identical functionality but different animations. Meteor Flight remains popular because it’s the earliest accessible. Alternatives include Thousand-Mile Flight (Day 4 login reward), Fan Glider (6,000 Qinghe Exploration Points), and Wind Rider (higher Exploration level).

Important: Each region has its own pendant requirement, and permissions don’t transfer between zones. You’ll need to unlock flight separately for Kaifeng and other areas as you progress.
