What Makes Taxi Driver So Compelling

Based on a popular webtoon, Taxi Driver follows a mysterious taxi service that delivers vengeance on behalf of victims unable to get justice through the legal system. The series taps into a universal desire for accountability—when the law fails, Rainbow Taxi Company steps in to make things right.

Kim Do Gi, played masterfully by Lee Je Hoon, serves as the company’s star operative. His ability to adopt various personas—from teachers to businessmen to delivery drivers—allows him to infiltrate different situations and execute elaborate revenge schemes. Each disguise is meticulously crafted, complete with backstories, mannerisms, and psychological depth.

The return of Teacher Hwang In Seong suggests that Season 3 will tackle school-related injustices, potentially addressing bullying, abuse of power, or institutional corruption. These themes resonate deeply with Korean audiences and international viewers alike, making Taxi Driver more than just entertainment—it’s social commentary wrapped in thrilling action.

FAQs

Do I need to watch Taxi Driver Seasons 1 and 2 before watching Season 3?

While Taxi Driver 3 will likely introduce new cases and standalone storylines, watching previous seasons is highly recommended for maximum enjoyment. The show builds on established character relationships, particularly within the Rainbow Taxi team, and references past missions. Understanding Kim Do Gi’s background, motivations, and the company’s operations will enhance your viewing experience. However, the episodic nature of revenge cases means each storyline is relatively self-contained. If you’re pressed for time, at minimum watch Season 1 to understand the core premise and Lee Je Hoon’s character development.

What is the significance of Teacher Hwang In Seong returning in Season 3?

Teacher Hwang In Seong was one of Lee Je Hoon’s most memorable disguises from Season 1, beloved by fans for the character’s seemingly friendly exterior masking Kim Do Gi’s vigilante nature. His return suggests Season 3 will tackle school-related injustices, potentially addressing bullying, teacher misconduct, or institutional corruption. This callback serves multiple purposes: it rewards longtime fans with nostalgia, demonstrates continuity across seasons, and allows Lee Je Hoon to showcase the acting versatility that made the character iconic.
