Black Friday 2025 is here, and if you’re a PS5 owner, this might be your best chance to build your gaming library without breaking the bank. The PlayStation Store has launched its November Savings event, discounting more than 2,450 games and DLC packs, with digital prices starting at just a few dollars. Let’s cut through the noise and show you where the real savings are.

When Does Black Friday Actually Start?

PlayStation’s official Black Friday sale is expected to begin November 21, but here’s the kicker—early deals are already live. Black Friday takes place on November 28, 2025, but the event no longer operates as a single-day sale. Smart shoppers are grabbing deals right now before inventory runs thin.

Blockbuster releases such as Cyberpunk 2077, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Premium Edition are marked down to their lowest point of the year. Whether you’re into action RPGs, stealth adventures, or narrative-driven experiences, there’s something for every gamer.

Digital vs. Physical: Which Saves More?

Amazon is countering the PlayStation Store with price cuts on physical copies of key PS5 titles, and in some cases, pricing is identical to the digital version while other deals reduce prices even further. If you prefer physical ownership or collect disc-based versions, Amazon’s offerings are worth checking out.

The PlayStation Store shines with convenience—instant downloads and no shipping waits. Meanwhile, Amazon’s physical deals appeal to collectors and those who value resale potential.

Beyond Games: Accessories Worth Grabbing

Several PS5 accessories are discounted at participating retailers, including the PS5 Media Remote, DualSense Charging Station, HD Camera, and Pulse 3D headset. Standard DualSense controllers have historically dropped to around $54.99, while special edition colorways have been priced closer to $59.99.

Storage is another hot category. External hard drives are seeing price drops across multiple retailers, giving you room for those massive AAA titles without deleting your favorites.

What About Console Bundles?

Here’s where things get tricky. Sony increased US pricing this year, which may limit console-level discounts. The PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro both saw modest price adjustments, but instead of new low prices, consumers may see pricing positioned closer to the previous MSRP through bundles.

The PS5 Pro could be discounted to around $600-$650, while the PS5 Slim might be available for approximately $449-$500. If you’ve been waiting for a console deal, bundles including games offer better overall value than console-only discounts.

PlayStation Plus: Don’t Sleep on Subscriptions

PS Plus memberships have offered up to 30% off in past Black Friday sales. Whether you’re on Essential, Extra, or Premium tier, stacking your subscription during Black Friday can save you serious money over the year. This is especially valuable for Premium members who get access to classic games and cloud streaming.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will PS5 games get cheaper closer to Black Friday weekend?

Many notable PS5 titles are already marked down to their lowest point of the year in the current PlayStation Store sale. While additional retailers may match or slightly beat these prices during Black Friday weekend, the biggest risk is popular titles selling out or digital deals expiring. If you spot a game you’ve been wanting at a historically low price, it’s safer to grab it now rather than risk missing out. Check PlayStation’s official blog for confirmed sale end dates.

Q: Should I buy digital or physical copies during Black Friday?

It depends on your priorities. Digital offers convenience with instant downloads and no shipping delays, perfect for building a permanent library. Physical copies from retailers like Amazon provide resale value and ownership flexibility—you can trade or sell games later. Amazon’s physical PS5 deals sometimes reduce prices even further than digital counterparts, making them ideal for budget-conscious gamers. Consider your storage situation too; digital games require adequate SSD space, while physical saves storage but needs shelf space.
