Pernille Harder proving her worth at Chelsea

Its been only six months that she moved from the Frauen Bundesliga to the FA Women’s Super League, where she was signed by Chelsea, but it did not take Pernille Harder long to steal the show in England.

The Danish international has signed a three-year deal and has proved her worth of that world record fee after having a quick impact for manager Emma Hayes’s side.

The talented Danish forward has shown that she can handle the pressure effortlessly without any signs of slowing down. In this season, She has 10 goals to her name for Chelsea in all competitions, which also includes a hat-trick in the Conti Cup semi-final against West Ham and scored twice against Arsenal on 10 February. Her skills are reflected in her game, her playing style, including her goal tally, and play an important role in Chelsea’s chance creation.

Pernille Harder’s pass rate in the penalty area and her progressive passes are in the 93rd percentile, which is according to her WSL statistics on FBref. Even her total shots, excluding penalties, is in the 99th percentile and her direct goal creating actions is in the 98th percentile, which is more impressive and extraordinary.

Her exceptional skills and qualities convinced Hayes to sign Harder for a world record of €300k back in the fall.

“One of her biggest attributes is her movement,” Hayes stated on Chelsea’s official website in September 2020.

“She knows when to create space for others. Her decision-making in the final third and the timing of her run into the box is exceptional,” She further added.

“Her finishing and nose for goal is proven on the world stage for a number of years,” She finally concluded.

Apart from Harder’s excellent technical ability, Hayes outlined her work ethic within the team, which is also an important skill for the Blues.

When Harder signed for the Blues, she expressed her excitement to share the field with Fran Kirby. And now, they have been a dynamic duo on the pitch for Chelsea, with Kirby providing assist twice to Harder in the match against Arsenal before scoring one of her own.

Harder has the Guardian’s best female footballer on the planet and the 2019/20 UEFA Women’s Player of the Year to her name and exceptional qualities, and no doubt she has a brighter future ahead.
