Call of Duty players just received devastating news that will impact anyone who invested in Black Ops 6 weapon blueprints and operator skins. Activision officially announced that the controversial Carry Forward program has been scrapped for Black Ops 7, meaning your hard-earned and paid content won’t transfer to the new game launching November 14, 2025.

What’s NOT Carrying Over to Black Ops 7

Content Type	Carry Forward Status	What This Means
Weapon Blueprints	❌ Not transferring	All BO6 blueprints stay locked to BO6
Operator Skins	❌ Not transferring	Character customizations won’t carry over
Weapons	❌ Not transferring	BO6-specific guns like ABR A1 unavailable
Weapon Camos	❌ Not transferring	Unlocked camos stay in BO6 only
Double XP Tokens	✅ Still carrying over	Your XP boosters will transfer
Zombies GobbleGums	✅ Still carrying over	Special zombie abilities preserved

Why Activision Made This Decision

According to the official Call of Duty Community Update, Activision stated: “Black Ops 7 needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting. That is why Black Ops 6 Operator and Weapon content will not carry forward to Black Ops 7.”

The developers are prioritizing thematic authenticity over player convenience, arguing that BO6’s futuristic content wouldn’t fit BO7’s different time period and aesthetic. This marks a significant reversal from previous games where Carry Forward helped players retain their investments across titles.

The Financial Impact on Players

This decision particularly stings for players who purchased premium blueprint bundles, often costing $10-20 each. Popular blueprints like the reactive camo variants and operator bundles represent hundreds of dollars in potential lost value for dedicated players.

What Players Are Losing:

Premium Weapon Blueprints: Expensive reactive and animated designs
Operator Bundle Skins: Character customizations purchased with real money
Battle Pass Rewards: Time-invested unlocks from multiple seasons
Store Bundles: Limited-time purchases that may never return

What Still Works in Warzone

The good news? “Call of Duty: Warzone is not affected, and all your Black Ops 6 content stays usable” in the battle royale mode. This means your investments aren’t completely lost – they’ll remain functional in Warzone even after Black Ops 7 launches.

Community Reaction and Controversy

The announcement has sparked intense debate within the Call of Duty community. Many players feel betrayed after spending money on content they expected to use across multiple games, while others support the decision for maintaining game authenticity.

As reported by esports outlets, “Carry Forward has been a highly controversial topic in Black Ops 7 since it was announced,” with players split between wanting fresh starts and preserving their investments.

Moving Forward: What This Means for Future Purchases

This decision sets a concerning precedent for future Call of Duty titles. Players now face uncertainty about whether their current investments will retain value beyond a single game’s lifecycle. Consider these factors before making future purchases:

Limited Transfer Policy: Only XP tokens and GobbleGums transfer forward
Warzone Integration: Content remains usable in the battle royale
Authenticity Priority: Thematic consistency may override player investment protection

Alternative Options for Players

While your blueprints won’t transfer, you still have options:

Continue Playing BO6: Your content remains fully functional
Focus on Warzone: All purchases work in the battle royale mode
Wait for BO7: Start fresh with the new game’s content system
