After nearly a decade since their heart-wrenching collaboration in “Uncontrollably Fond,” Korean superstars Kim Woo Bin and Bae Suzy are reuniting for Netflix’s enchanting fantasy rom-com “Genie, Make a Wish.” The series is set to premiere globally on October 3, 2025, perfectly timed for Korea’s Chuseok holiday.
What Makes Kim Woo Bin Reunion So Special?
The last time fans witnessed Kim Woo Bin and Suzy’s on-screen chemistry was in 2016’s “Uncontrollably Fond”, making this Netflix project a highly anticipated comeback. Their previous collaboration left audiences emotionally devastated, and now they’re ready to work their magic again in a completely different genre.
Story That’ll Capture Your Heart
The plot revolves around Jinn, a genie who awakens after a thousand years, and Ka-young, his new impassive master. Kim Woo Bin plays Genie, a mystical lamp spirit who returns to the world after being trapped for a millennium, while Suzy portrays an emotionally detached woman who becomes his unlikely master.

Why Netflix Chose This Perfect Release Date
Netflix strategically scheduled the premiere to coincide with the Chuseok holiday, a significant celebration in South Korea. This timing ensures maximum viewership during the festive season when families gather and entertainment consumption peaks.
What Sets This K-Drama Apart
Unlike typical genie stories, this series promises a fresh take on the classic wish-granting narrative. The contrast between Kim Woo Bin’s flamboyant genie character and Suzy’s stoic personality creates an intriguing dynamic that’s bound to deliver both comedy and romance.
The fantasy romance genre has been gaining tremendous popularity on streaming platforms, and Netflix’s investment in Korean content continues to pay dividends globally. For gaming and entertainment enthusiasts following Korean entertainment trends, this series represents the perfect blend of star power and innovative storytelling.
Production Quality & Expectations
Netflix’s track record with Korean originals like “Squid Game,” “Kingdom,” and “Crash Landing on You” sets high expectations for “Genie, Make a Wish.” The streaming giant’s commitment to quality production values and global distribution ensures this reunion project will reach audiences worldwide simultaneously.
Mark Your Calendars
The series will air exclusively on Netflix starting October 3, 2025, with episodes releasing weekly on Fridays. Early buzz suggests this could be one of 2025’s biggest K-drama hits, especially given the lead actors’ massive fanbase and the unique fantasy premise.
For Korean drama enthusiasts and anyone curious about this magical reunion, “Genie, Make a Wish” promises to deliver the perfect blend of romance, fantasy, and stellar performances that have made Korean content a global phenomenon.
