MS Dhoni is all set to become the first player in the Indian Premier League to rake in more than Rs 150 crore as salary as it is confirmed that Dhoni is going to play for, and also lead the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2021 season.
Dhoni himself announced this decision of continuing to play in the IPL after he took retirement from the blue jersey in August during the toss prior to CSK’s final league game against Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020 by quoting ‘Definitely Not’ when the TV representative asked him if he is going to retire from IPL after this game.
Moreover, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan earlier confirmed that Dhoni will lead the team in IPL 2021 by quoting in an interview with the TOI, “Yes, definitely. I am very confident that Dhoni will lead CSK in 2021. He has won three titles for us in the IPL. This is the first year we have not qualified for the playoffs. No other team has done that. One bad year does not mean we will have to change everything.”
At present Dhoni’s contract with Chennai Super Kings is worth a huge amount Rs 15 crores and, till date, his earnings are Rs 137.8 crores. CSK is all set to retain him in the IPL 2021 for Rs 15 crores. So Dhoni will cross the Rs 150-crore salary milestone in IPL to become the first player with the highest earnings.
