The Korean tech giant has been planning on producing a special type of 3nm chip for smartphones which are almost 40% smaller than the latest IBM’s 5nm chip, which has almost 30 billion transistors. The chip that Samsung is planning to make will show a new path to smartphone technology worldwide. The 3nm chip is likely to have around 50 billion transistors and is likely to be 35% more efficient than current 7nm chips present in a few flagship devices.

Samsung has been planning to start the production of its 3nm chip in 2021, but due to this pandemic the company is bounded to shut their stores as well as all smartphone productions, and now they are also stopping the chip production and has stopped any kind of deals with it by keeping it in halt. Until now they have decided to start the whole process by 2022 as they have not been able to fully set up the whole production mechanism required to produce the 3nm chip in bulk.

Samsung is competing with Taiwan’s TSMC in the production and selling of the 3nm chip, but due to the current situation the Korean tech giant has pushed the mass production by 2022, and now it is to be seen that who comes up with the 3nm chip first. The first one to complete the mass production and testing wins the game in this competition.
