Three people aged between 18 to 21 have been arrested in Valencia over Vinicius Jr‘s alleged racist abuse. The winger was subject to chants of “monkey, monkey” at the Mestalla, when Real Madrid were defeated 1-0.
Carlo Ancelotti revealed that he talked to the Brazilian about substituting him during half time. Vinicius Jr came out after half time, but was shown a red card for shoving Hugo Duro late in the game during an altercation. He was also put in a headlock, but the offender was let off without a punishment.

The forward went on to deliver a strongly worded comment on the racism situation in Spain. La Liga president Javier Tebas responded saying that the player did not turn up for any of their scheduled meetings, and asked him to inform himself of the situation before making such comments.
However, Vinicius Jr responded by saying that he would go to any lengths in order to combat racism in the country. Valencia said that they would impose lifetime bans on anybody found guilty, and are set to do so for the three people that have been arrested.
The player is set to continue at Real Madrid, amidst rumours that he could leave. He has signed a new contract with the club, and is one of the most important parts of their future.
