Liverpool thrashed [Manchester United](https://technosports.co.in/will-cristiano-ronaldo-get-a-2022-carabao-cup/) 7-0 to return to their best form at Anfield. The visitors were handed their [worst defeat of the Premier League era,](https://twitter.com/ESPNFC/status/1632446073821069312?s=20)with six second half goals from Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Any ambitions that Erik Ten Hag’s side had of competing for the Premier League title have been dealt a massive blow, since they are fourteen points behind league leaders Arsenal. Here are the key takeaways from the routing at Merseyside.

## Key takeaways from Liverpool’s big win against Manchester United

### “Unprofessional” United

Erik Ten Hag openly criticised his team’s performance in the second half, calling it unacceptable to lose the way they did. They went into the break 1-0 down, but were completely decimated by their rivals in the second half.

Klopp’s side returned with the intensity that they have become so well-known for, and something that was lacking for a while. The hosts never let up, and simply kept on scoring with their applied pressure till the end.

### Salah extends his legendary status

Mohamed Salah has surpassed Robbie Fowler as the player with the most Premier League goals for Liverpool. The Egyptian winger scored a brace to take his tally to 129, and cement himself as a bona fide club legend.

He has also become only the second player to score 20+ goals for six consecutive seasons after Ian Rush.

### Top four ambitions still alive for Klopp

Now that Liverpool are only three points behind Spurs in the Champions League places with a game in hand, they are likely to return to the top four. However, consistency is the name of the game from here on out.

The challenge for the top four is very tight this season, and the Merseyside club will have to use the momentum from their huge win to keep up their form and go back to winning ways consistently.
