2025-27 WTC Final: Test cricket’s most demanding qualification puzzle is entering its most fascinating phase yet. With India’s tour of Sri Lanka wrapped up, the World Test Championship 2025-27 race has clarified into a genuine nine-team scramble, where every remaining Test carries outsized weight.

## 2025-27 WTC Final: The Current Standings

| Team | Matches | PCT |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Australia | 10 | 80.00% |
| South Africa | 4 | 75.00% |
| New Zealand | 6 | 72.22% |
| Bangladesh | 6 | 55.56% |
| India | 11 | 51.52% |
| Sri Lanka | 6 | 33.33% |
| England | 14 | 29.76% |
| West Indies | 12 | 20.83% |
| Pakistan | 7 | 19.05% |

## The Front-Runners

Australia sit firmly in control at 80% PCT, having already featured in both previous WTC finals and winning the inaugural edition in 2023. With 12 matches remaining against South Africa, New Zealand and India, even six wins and a draw would keep them comfortably above 65%. South Africa, the defending champions, hold a major home advantage with eight of their remaining Tests on home soil, while New Zealand’s path runs through home series against India and Sri Lanka.

## India’s Steep Climb

India face arguably the toughest remaining run of any contender: two away Tests in New Zealand followed by a five-match home series against Australia. A clean sweep would lift them to 70.37%, but even a single defeat drops them close to the 65% mark, while two losses would leave qualification heavily dependent on other results.

## Bangladesh’s Quiet Opportunity

Currently enjoying their best-ever WTC campaign position, Bangladesh need roughly four wins and two draws from their remaining six matches to push past 66%, keeping their surprise final push alive.

## The Bottom Line

Historically, a PCT above 60% has been the benchmark for genuine qualification hopes, meaning England, Pakistan and West Indies are effectively out of contention barring a miracle.
