Maruti Dzire is the top-selling sedan in India with a 45% market share. With the recent update to Swift in its fourth generation, comes a face-lifted Dzire. Just ahead of its launch, the new Dzire is testing in Pune and PowerDrift have spotted it undergoing ARAI testing.
The All New 2024 Maruti Dzire New-Gen
The next Dzire is expected to take design cues from the fourth-generation Swift but will get unique touches as well. The new Dzire will come with LED reflector barrels (upper half) and a centrally mounted LED DRL, flanked by halogen turn indicators. Headlamps seem more upmarket than the ones present on the fourth-gen Swift.
Meanwhile, the new Dzire might offer a distinctive front grille, bumper, and bonnet. On the sides, we will see new designs for the alloy wheels. However, the Dzire will have cameras mounted on the ORVMs (outer rear view mirrors), indicating a 360° surround-view camera system. In contrast, even recently designed cars like these still offer parking-assist micro-cameras as an option for most wide-angle-only power-adjustable wing mirrors. The back might feature the C-shaped tail lights.
The interior of the new Dzire has been expected to add more features than what are there on the upcoming Swift such as a Baleno-sourced HUD unit, rain-sensing wipers, and telescopic steering adjustment. The tech package will be similar to that of the Swift, including a 9-inch touchscreen, ARKAMYS premium sound system, onboard voice assistant, wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth connectivity.
The safety features will largely mirror those of the fourth-gen Swift, with six airbags standard across all variants, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and reverse parking sensors. Crash safety ratings for the Dzire will likely align with those of the Swift. The 2022 Global NCAP and Euro NCAP ratings for the fourth-gen Swift amounted to a one-star rating on both counts.
The Dzire will also share its 1.2-liter Z12E petrol engine with the fourth-gen Swift, good for 81.58 PS and 1116 Nm of torque mated to a choice of either a five-speed manual or automated manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the current Dzire is powered by an existing 1.2-liter mill good for 89.7 PS and a peak torque of 113 Nm that helps it return decent mileage too.
The existing engine is rated at 31.12 km/kg on CNG For now, we believe that the new Maruti Dzire is scheduled to go on sale soon and once it does, it will continue its fight against the likes of Hyundai Aura as well as rest in sub-compact sedan segment, Tata Tigor and Honda Amaze.
