The official mascot of the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup has been revealed, and it is a sand cat called ‘Haddaf’. The mascot wears a white t-shirt with 2023 written on the back. As revealed by FIFA, he is the official mascot for the upcoming competition and will enjoy a high profile through their media channels to build anticipation for it.
The tournament will be played in Saudi Arabia, as they add to their involvement in football this year. After spending a significant amount of money to lure talent away from European clubs, they have emerged as the sole bidders for the rights to host the 2034 World Cup and are now days away from hosting the Club World Cup.
Haddaf – FIFA Club World Cup 2023 Mascot revealed
Haddaf is a symbol of boldness and courage as the respective cup winners fight to be the best of the best.
This year’s Club World Cup will feature treble winners Manchester City going in as the favourites to win the competition, as most Champions League winners often are. They will be joined by Copa Libertadores winners Fluminense, Egyptian winners Al Ahly representing Africa, Urawa Reds from the AFC Champions League, debutants Club Leon from Mexico and Auckland City FC from Oceania.
The matches will be played from 12-22 December, and will also feature Saudi Pro League winners Al Ittihad joining the continental champions. Jeddah is set to provide the host stadiums for the game, with the winter providing relief from the soaring temperature in the Middle East.
