BANGLADESH vs INDIA 2nd Test, Day 4: A 71-run partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin led India to its victory

The second test between Bangladesh and India finally came to an end with India winning the series by 2-0. Bangladesh once again couldn’t defeat India in the Test match. At the end of the 3rd day, India was at 45/4 and 100 runs to win which seemed a little difficult. However, with the 71-run stand between Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin, the visitors clinched the victory by three wickets.

Indian batters Shreyas Iyer and R Ashwin had a partnership of 71 runs which is the highest for the eighth wicket in a successful fourth-innings chase. Previously, n Inzamam-ul-Haq and Rashid Latif’s 51-run stand was the highest against Australia in 1994.

The visitors have zero losses in Test cricket against Bangladesh and have emerged as victors in 11 out of 13 matches. As India was at 45/4 at stumps yesterday, it seemed that the hosts have a high chance of creating history.

Iyer and Ashwin’s partnership is the highest of the target added by the last three wickets in a successful fourth-innings chase. Earlier the highest percentage was 28.1% by New Zealand against West Indies in Dunedin in 1980. 50 runs were added for the last three wickets in a 104-run chase.

“We put on a good show, very good test cricket. That’s what the crowd loves. The way we fought in the two test matches was impressive.” Shakib said.
