India keeps back its 106th position in the latest FIFA rankings

India held on to its 106th position in the rearmost FIFA rankings released on Thursday( December 22). While Brazil and Argentina, the World Cup 2022 winners, are first and second, independently. The Blues have been ranked 106th for quite some time now. They also held that position when the rankings were last streamlined on October 6.

India is also ranked 19th in Asia behind the likes of Vietnam, Bahrain, and Jordan. Japan, who advanced to the last 16 stages of the FIFA World Cup 2022, lead the Asian Football Confederation( AFC) in terms of rankings. Samurai Blue is ranked 20th in the world. They outgunned their group ahead of Spain and Germany during the World Cup group stages.

Japan is followed by fellow World Cup actors Iran, South Korea, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. Iran, which dropped four places, South Korea, and Australia are the other three Asian brigades inside the top 30.

The Blue Barracuda was last in action in the month of September when they shared in two transnational friendlies in Vietnam. India faced Singapore and hosts Vietnam in the three-platoon-friendly event. Igor Stimac’s boys played a 1- 1 draw against Singapore in their opening match, before being thrashed 0- 3 by Vietnam in the other friendly.
