What went wrong for India in their 2nd ODI loss against Bangladesh?

India have lost their ODI series against Bangladesh 0-2 with one game to spare. And it is safe to say that things have not gone well for the men in blue following their T20 World Cup campaign.

Bangladesh were able to squeeze out a win with one wicket to spare in the first ODI. And the second one saw them lose by only five runs, with Rohit Sharma coming out to bat in the lower order due to an injured finger.

What went wrong for India in their series against Bangladesh

The batting order was disappointing in both games for India. They were bowled out for 186 in the first game itself, with KL Rahul achieving a total of 73 as the best in the line-up. The second ODI saw Virat Kohli bowled out for five runs, while Shikhar Dhawan was unable to add many more to the board either.

Although Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel provided hope in the form of a 107-run partnership for the fifth wicket, their successors, Deepak Chahar, and Shardul Thakur could not regain the momentum.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman put on a 51-run partnership for the last wicket to steal the win in the first match. The second match saw Bangladesh reduced to 69 for 6. But from that stage, they won the game, achieving a target of 271 by losing only 7 wickets.

India’s failure to deliver a killing blow in bowling and take advantage of the situations has cost them the series. And they will need to regroup and re-cultivate a killing instinct in them once again if they are to get the wins.
