Sapphire teases its custom AMD Radeon RX 7900 Vapor-X GPU

Sapphire is the newest AMD AIB partner to tease its next-generation Radeon RX 7900 Vapor-X series custom graphics cards. Unlike another manufacturer, Sapphire Technology is kicking off its marketing campaign with a first look at the PCB of their high-end Vapor-X cooling system, rather than just the cooling system of their upcoming AMD Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cards. The business has already shown off its Nitro+ series graphics cards, but the Vapor-X is positioned one notch higher in the luxury sector than its Toxic series cards.

Looking at the unique PCB, we can see the enormous AMD Navi 31 GPU die sitting in the centre, which will use a vapor-chamber cooling design, and the PCB appears to be using a high-quality 20-phase VRM design that is powered via a triple 8-pin connector interface.

Given that others have used a triple-slot or quad-slot cooler design, we can expect Sapphire to adopt a similar and hefty cooling for its Radeon RX 7900 Vapor-X custom graphics cards as well.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 Series graphics cards are expected to be available from AMD.com beginning December 13, 2022, and from leading board partners including ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Gigabyte, MSI, PowerColor, Sapphire, Vastarmor, XFX and Yeston beginning mid-December. The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX has an SEP of $999 USD, while the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT has an SEP of $899 USD. — AMD

AMD is apparently aiming to release reference versions of its Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT graphics cards. The AIB cards are being prepared, but according to recent speculations, they won’t be available until 1-2 weeks following the introduction. Sapphire is AMD’s third AIB partner to reveal its bespoke designs, following PowerColor and ASUS. Neither business has fully announced their lineups, but they have provided us with a sneak peek at the design of their next-generation RDNA 3-powered products.
