Maruti to launch the next-gen Dzire and Swift with 40 kmpl mileage

After the success of its sport utility vehicle (SUV), Grand Vitara, India’s leading automaker, Maruti Suzuki India, is anticipated to release the next generation of its hatchback Swift and compact sedan Dzire with an entirely new strong-hybrid powertrain.

The new Swift and Dzire are expected to be the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the nation when they are both released in the first quarter of 2024. These new vehicles are most likely to be equipped with a brand-new Suzuki 1.2-liter gasoline engine, which, unlike the K12C engine in use today, is a three-cylinder unit, coupled with Toyota’s powerful hybrid technology.

This technology, which is now used in vehicles like the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder made by the Japanese carmaker, is being actively localised in the nation to obtain an even lower cost tag.

The next-generation Swift and Dzire strong hybrids could get an ARAI-rated economy of 35–40 km per litre, making them India’s most fuel-efficient vehicles ever. The greatest claimed fuel efficiency for the current Swift and Dzire, in contrast, is 22.56 km/l and 24.1 km/l, respectively.

Customers would gain from Maruti’s Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) rating in addition to the great fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions from a hybrid powertrain. Customers should also be able to offset the increased cost of purchasing the powerful hybrid version with the fuel savings they realise.

However, it is also anticipated that the new-generation Swift and Dzire will cost between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 1.50 lakh more than their basic fuel counterparts. A current price range for the Swift and Dzire is between Rs. 5.92 lakh and Rs. 8.85 lakh and Rs. 6.24 lakh and Rs. 9.18 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom, India).

As of right now, the Grand Vitara’s moderate and powerful hybrid versions differ in price by about Rs 2.6 lakh. Before the debut of the next-generation Swift and Dzire hybrids in 2024, Maruti is anticipated to lower the pricing even further by between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh.
