Manchester United mutually terminated Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract prior to Portugal’s opening match at the 2022 World Cup. The aftermath of the interview with Piers Morgan forced the club to take action, and they have now parted ways with the star player.

And now, the biggest question heading into the January transfer window is – where will Cristiano Ronaldo play next?

Clubs that Cristiano Ronaldo could play for next year

Here are the most likely teams that the 37-year-old could sign for next year:

Paris Saint-Germain

PSG are actually looking at a striker, with Hugo Ekitike not exactly starting every week. Kylian Mbappe has expressed his frustrations over playing in a central role, and this could make way for Ronaldo to join the French giants, while teaming up with two of the best players in the world in Messi and Neymar.

Sporting Lisbon

As it is with every big player these days, a return to the boyhood club cannot be ruled out. Luis Suarez did it most recently with Nacional, and Cristiano Ronaldo could also follow the same path with a return to Sporting.

Any MLS team

The veteran could also follow the likes of Gareth Bale, Lorenzo Insigne and Giorgio Chiellini to the USA. The MLS is becoming a popular destination for ageing players, and the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could make the switch now.

Any Middle Eastern team

They already made an offer for him in the summer, according to the man himself. And half a year later, he could be on his way to the Middle East for a massive payday.
