FIFA 2022 will be hosting 64 matches that will be played in 28 days across eight stadiums. The hosting nation Qatar has spent billions for the event to take place. As per reports, FIFA has earned a total revenue of USD 7.5 billion in four years through commercial tie-ups. This has surpassed the earlier records by any sporting event.

The extra income was taken by the commercial deals with the World Cup’s host country. Qatar has its top-tier sponsor and new third-tier sponsors Qatari bank QNB and telecoms Srm Ooredoo respectively.

The mega event’s second-tier sponsors are from the Financial platform crypto.com and a blockchain provider. The American sponsor is more than a decade old.

FIFA also signed the World Cup with Sepp Blatter’s presidency in the two-tournament including Russia and Qatar tournaments. The deals are also included with the Fo0 in the United States and Qatari broadcaster BeIN Sports from the past eleven years.

It’s a huge achievement for the FIFA tournament as they managed to earn $2.5 billion despite the Covid-19 pandemic. They wanted to help the members with cash through the uncertainty in 2020. In that pandemic year, the national team soccer and World Cup qualifying games were completely stopped.

The revenues of this gala tournament are further going to increase to $10 billion for the next four years. This was possible only because of women’s soccer and the World Cup that expanded in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

On top of previous sponsors, separate sponsor deals will be added for women’s soccer for the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

It’s expected that more than one million will turn up to Qatar to see the games for which an extra US$200 has been spent to stage the tournament and US$8 billion on the infrastructure. The tournament has a blank slate for the 2026 edition with sponsors like Coca-Cola, Adidas, and Wanda extending their deals.

The first game was played between the hosting nation Qatar and Ecuador on November 23.
