The bird has experienced a lot. We have been hearing a variety of rumours concerning the future of the bird app since Elon Musk took control. The last week came to a close with a fresh upgrade to the app that would officially launch Twitter Blue for $7.99. The real launch, nevertheless, has not yet taken place. The new subscription plan was scheduled to go into effect today, but the most recent information indicates otherwise.

The New York Times said that the decision to delay its service was made one day after the app update and that the information came from an internal memo it had access to. Evidently, there were worries about the new verification service being negatively used during the midterm elections both inside and outside the organisation.

For instance, users could circulate false information about the election by assuming the identities of lawmakers, prominent political personalities, or news organisations. In case anyone was wondering, Twitter will now launch the service on November 9th.

In case anyone is curious, the new Twitter Blue will enable subscribers to access the verified blue tick and users will also notice fewer advertisements on the service. Additionally, users will be allowed to publish longer movies with a priority rating. As a result, the material of the verified user will be given preference over that of other users with the same name when it comes to replies, mentions, and searches. According to the description, this will suppress spam or bot communications and prevent misinformation.

The new Twitter Blue service won’t be accessible everywhere or in all regions when it debuts, though. The service will debut in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, and the UK, with iOS serving as its initial platform. Twitter made no other announcements than the initial territories, but let’s hope they add more locations in the near future.
