Apple to roll out iOS 16.2 Beta which will enable 5G support in India next week

Customers of Apple in India who have been waiting to enjoy 5G internet on their iPhones finally have a reason to enjoy. Apple has confirmed that the next update that they will be pushing out for iPhones, iOS 16.2 will bring 5G support to iPhone users in India using Airtel or Jio networks.

The Beta programme lets users try out pre-release software and experience the latest features before the software becomes publicly available. With the beta programme, users can also provide feedback to Apple on quality and usability, which helps Apple identify issues, fix them, and make Apple software even better.

The report also claims that Apple executives will soon meet with members of India’s Ministry of Telecommunications and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to inform them of the launch of the iOS 16 public beta firmware. Last month, Apple said it was working with its “carrier partners in India to bring the best 5G experience to iPhone users as soon as network validation and testing for quality and performance is completed”. “5G will be enabled via a software update and will start rolling out to iPhone users in December,” the company had said in a statement.

As of now, the iPhones that will support 5G include, the latest generation of iPhones that is the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series, iPhone 13 series, and the iPhone 12 Series. People with iPhone SE 3 will also be able to use 5G.

It’s worth noting that Beta builds are not usually reliable as stable versions. Users may face issues in terms of performance and bugs on their devices. Hence it’s not recommended to install iOS 16.2 Beta on your iPhone, especially if it is your primary device.
