Google opens the US beta of Play Games for PC with more than 50 Android games

According to the reports, Google on Tuesday announced the introduction of a new beta for a platform that will enable customers to play their Android games on PC.

Launching its PC Beta

The Google Play Games launcher beta was already released by the business back in January, but it was only available in a few Asian territories, including Australia, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and Thailand.

Now that it is available to gamers in western markets like the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Brazil as well as the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, the developers are letting them join. To participate in the beta, click here.

Play Games and System Requirements

Among the 85 titles available in the Google Play Games beta platform are Evony: The King’s Return, Cookie Run: Kingdom, and 1945 Air Force. The company stated in the release that a PC running Windows 10 or 11, an integrated graphics card, and a CPU with four or more cores are the minimum requirements.

However, according to the Google Play Games page, players require a solid-state drive with 10GB of free storage space, 8GB of RAM, and an Intel UHD Graphics 630 GPU or equivalent.

The solid-state and RAM requirements are unexpected, especially given that many non-desktop gamers may be using laptops or older PCs that do not even support those bare-bones minimum requirements. HDD users are out of luck, but perhaps the need for an SSD ensures that computers running these games will be more competitive with smartphones.

About the Platform

The platform itself resembles many other game launchers, such as the Epic Games Store and GOG Galaxy. Users can look through games, buy them, and download them to their desktops. Keyboard and mouse compatibility is required for the games.

In the blog post, Google Play Games Director Arjun Dayal stated that the company’s overarching objective is to meet players where they are and provide them with access to their games on as many devices as possible. The major expectation, he continued, is that gamers will be able to sync their progress across devices.
