Wolves restart positive talks with Julen Lopetegui for managerial role

Wolves have made a second inquiry into recruiting Julen Lopetegui as their new manager, after their initial approach was rejected. And according to Fabrizio Romano, the discussions are going positively.

The Midlands club had announced that Steve Davis would remain in charge for the rest of the season, after the dismissal of Bruno Lage. However, it now seems like they are searching for a long-term solution with a renowned manager.

Julen Lopetegui back in talks with Wolves

The team has had a very disappointing start to the season, after which they parted ways with Bruno Lage. As of right now, they are second last in the table with only two wins, and seven defeats.

Julen Lopetegui enjoyed a successful spell with Sevilla, winning the Europa League with them before being sacked recently. He was Wolves’ first-choice to replace Lage. However, the 56-year-old turned down their initial approach.

QPR manager Michael Beale was also rumoured to be a target. But, he opted to stay with the Championship team despite the interest from the Premier League club.

Now, it seems like a breakthrough has been achieved and Lopetegui could replace Davis on the bench. Further updates about the situation should be expected in the coming weeks.
