Young players from Brazil have always been in demand in Europe. And Fluminense’s Matheus Martins could be next in line, following in the footsteps of so many of his compatriots.

Udinese and Watford are the two clubs interested in signing him as of right now. The Serie A club has opened negotiations with Fluminense over a transfer, and a fee in the region of €7-8 million is being discussed.

The 19-year-old is a Fluminense academy graduate and has made 43 appearances across all competitions this season. In the revered Copinha tournament for youngsters, he made six appearances and scored two goals while providing one assist.

His overall tally this season is eight goals and three assists, after 2,444 minutes on the pitch. Being naturally right-footed, he is played on the left wing, but can also feature all across the front three positions.

The final decision about his future is up to the player himself, which means that a move to Watford could still happen. However, Udinese are currently leading the race. Southampton have been rumoured to have an outside chance to sign Matheus Martins as well. With the January window approaching, more clarity on his situation is expected.
