France will be without Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante for the 2022 World Cup

France will be without two of their elite midfielders from the 2018 edition of the World Cup this time around – N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba.

Both are currently out injured and will not be back in time to make it to Qatar. As a result, the French national team will be missing two of the key players that made the victory in Russia possible. And this could have a big impact on their ambitions of defending the world title in a few week’s time.

France’s Paul Pogba suffers injury setback, while Kante recovers

Paul Pogba joined Juventus as a free agent this summer, after leaving Manchester United. However, he sustained an injury before he could make a single appearance for the Bianconeri. And now, he has suffered yet another setback.

Reports from Italy state that the new injury is in his thigh muscle, and he will only be able to play in 2023. The injury is to his right thigh, while he picked up the initial metatarsal injury on the left leg.

Juventus are expecting it to be only a case of training overload. However, the final diagnosis is yet to be confirmed.

In their absence, the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni could make it to Didier Deschamps’ squad instead. France has no shortage of talent in any position, and will no doubt be able to replace them.

But the experience that the pair could bring to the table cannot be understated.
