The Witcher Remake was officially announced by CD Projekt Red

For a remake of the 2007 original game, The Witcher is officially planned to be subjected to the hyper-realistic digital environment of Unreal Engine 5. The Polish studio Fool’s Theory is now working on a Witcher remake, according to CD Projekt Red.

The game was exhibited under the working title “Canis Majoris,” however it turned out that it was one of five that were recently announced. No information was provided, but this news will likely excite longstanding fans of the franchise who are eagerly awaiting the improvement of the iconic game. The corporation is requesting patience in the hopes that the announcement will satisfy fans.

The news about The Witcher remake also includes CD Projekt Red’s first-ever collaboration with another studio.

Fool’s Theory, its first partner studio, is an inconspicuous one. After launching in 2015, the studio has since worked on titles including Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Outriders, and Baldur’s Gate III; its resume didn’t exactly make it an obvious choice to work on this eagerly awaited remake project. Of course, it’s been made clear by the franchise’s native developer that it is “providing full creative supervision” on the situation.

Adam Badowski, Head of Studio, CD Projekt Red, expresses promising prospects in a statement about the unprecedented partnership. “Collaborating with Fool’s Theory on the project is just as exciting, as some of the people there have been previously involved in The Witcher games,” he said. “They know the source material well, they know how much gamers have been looking forward to seeing the remake happen, and they know how to make incredible and ambitious games. And although it will take some time before we’re ready to share more about and from the game, I know it’ll be worth the wait.”

The Witcher was first made available to gamers as a cross-platform game for Windows and OS X in October 2007. The exploration of the game’s almost medieval setting and the captivating personality of its hero, the monster hunter Geralt of Rivia, helped the game achieve astronomical success. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings from 2011 and The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, the most recent mainline game, would come after it. Additionally, the games stimulated interest in the novels by author Andrzej Sapkowski, which served as their inspiration. Naturally, the Netflix live-action series, starring Henry Cavill (the soon-to-be-back Superman), as Geralt of Rivia, will premiere in 2019. The Witcher: Blood Origin, a spinoff series, is also being created by Netflix.
