Cristiano Ronaldo’s market value halved after disappointing 2022

Cristiano Ronaldo’s second stint at Manchester United has gone wrong really fast. While his first season back was a success individually, the club failed to qualify for the Champions League and amassed their lowest points total in history.

This season, the forward has been restricted to a very limited role in the team. Missing pre-season was one of the key reasons behind him being snubbed as he wasn’t on the fitness level that Erik Ten Hag wanted.

When he returned to Manchester United in June 2021, the Portugal captain was valued at €45 million. And as of right now, his market value has been cut to less than half that amount at €20 million.

Ronaldo has scored only one goal in the Premier League, and one in the Europa League. He has also started only two games in the Premier League for a total of 340 minutes in the top flight.

He was recently left out of the travelling squad to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, after walking out of the stadium before full-time vs Tottenham. And although Erik Ten Hag has said that he sees Cristiano Ronaldo as a player he can count on till the end of the season, a departure could be in store for him in January if he doesn’t accept a non-starting role in the squad.
