Yes, finally, these new 13th Gen Intel chips are now on sale in India and are available to buy at select retailers across the country, well, the Indian pricing has stunned us as well. Intel has managed to keep prices even below or nearly the same as that of the latest AMD Ryzen 7000 processors and you can even use a discounted Z690 motherboard with a BIOS update.
Major retailers and computer markets in India have already started selling these new Intel processors prior to the auspicious Diwali season. Taking into account our stay in Kolkata, we took into account two major retailers, Vedant Computers and MDComputers, both have actually started selling online while most other small retailers have also started to sell these 13th Gen Intel processors as well.
As you see Intel’s new 13th Gen processors have a starting price of about Rs.30k and with 14 cores, these are some of the most powerful chips to buy in the market. The Core i5s have exactly similar pricing to the newer Ryzen 5 7600X which makes AMD not a value proposition to these new Intel chips.
On the Core i7 side, only the 16-core Core i7-13700K is available to buy with great pricing of Rs.42k and that directly competes against the Ryzen 9 7900X which to be fair again seems overpriced compared to Intel. Obviously, with a lot of efficiency cores and a newer process along with ground-breaking single-core improvements, these Intel chips seem to be very well priced against AMD.
Now you see the Core i9s, starting with the Core i9-13900KF, at around Rs.55k pricing and the normal 13900K with Rs.58k pricing makes a great value proposition over AMD. The Ryzen 9 7950X that retails for around Rs.66k seems to be very overpriced against Intel and with robust retail supply, this time choosing the best one for you will be a tough job.
However, considering our analysis, buying an older Z690 motherboard for cheap and doing a BIOS update will give great performance with any new 13th Gen Intel CPU. As this time AMD’s platform costs are higher for the new AM5 socket and CPUs seem to be overpriced, you can skip these if needed and wait for the Ryzen 7000X3D chips which are rumored to arrive soon.
