With increased production, Samsung Display will advance QD-OLED technology

The production of Samsung Display‘s QD-OLED display panel technology is reportedly going up. The increase in output suggests that the corporation intends to advance this technology for its next products.

A BusinessKorea story claims that the display division of the South Korean tech giant intends to increase production of its quantum dot organic light-emitting diode panels from 30,000 sheets per month to 40,000 sheets per month. In the first half of this year, the company’s production yield of QD-OLED display panels grew to 85%, according to Jung Yun-seong, managing director of Omdia, “proving its great technical ability.”

Samsung Display QD-OLED technology details

In order to expand its product line, Samsung Display will be able to roll out 49-inch and 77-inch QD-OLED displays thanks to the increase in production. According to Jung’s forecast, the company will sell between 600,000 and 800,000 QD-OLED display panels for monitors and between 1.4 million and 1.6 million for TVs in the upcoming year. In other words, by 2023, the total number of panels produced will be close to 2.4 million units.

Currently, one of the most successful display firms in the world, Samsung Display is a seasoned member of the industry. Its profitability has already outperformed firms like BOE and CSOT, and in the second quarter of this year, a record-high profit margin of 14% was attained. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise that the corporation is also promoting its cutting-edge display technology in the market.
