ASIA CUP 2023: PCB is angry over BCCI for not allowing India to tour Pakistan; threatens to quit Asia Cricket Council

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is quite angry at BCCI and threatened to quit Asian Cricket Council. PCB is thinking of not participating in the Cricket World Cup 2023 hosted by India. BCCI refused to allow the Indian team to travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023. BCCI’s secretary Jay Shah will request ACC to have this tournament at a neutral venue.

Following the Geo news, PCB officials said that they’ll be holding a meeting after Jay Shah announced that he’ll ask ACC to consider other neutral venues. Pakistan and India face each other only at global events. After 2012, there have been no bilateral series.

“Neutral venue for Asia Cup is not unprecedented and we have decided that we will not travel to Pakistan. I have decided that we will play at a neutral venue,” said Jay Shah

The Indian government refused any Bilateral series and accused Pakistan of terror funding. India has been facing Pakistan only at Global events. Post Pulwama and Pathankot attacks, their relationship only worsened. The Indian government denied BCCI’s request to visit Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023. India will be hosting WORLD CUP 2023 and Pakistan may refuse to participate in the mega event. On the other hand, ICC Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan. If the relations between India and Pakistan improve, there’s a high possibility that the government will allow for future tours.

The men in blue toured Pakistan for the last time in Asia Cup 2008. The Mumbai attacks strained the relationship between the two countries. The BJP government has cleared it out that there won’t be any diplomatic ties until Pakistan stops terror funding. BCCI secretary Jay Shah is in a tough spot since he will have to face pressure from both India and Pakistan.

The two countries’ last bilateral tour was in 2012 when Pakistan came to India for a limited-overs series. In 2026, Pakistan came in India for the 2016 World Cup.
