Roger Binny has replaced Sourav Ganguly after the latter was the president for three years. On Tuesday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah favoured Roger Binny as the new president. The list of new office bearers is ready and elections will be held on 18th October as a formality.

The new office bearers are:

Nobody showed support for the former Indian skipper which left him lonely. For the BCCI Elections, candidates also completed their nomination process on October 11.

The time is really going bad for him since his dream of being the ICC Chairman is also over. The officials said that they won’t be backing him for the ICC Chairman role nor as the BCCI representative to the ICC.

Previously too, no president has had two terms as a BCCI president. However, N Srinivasan criticised Ganguly openly for his “non-performance”. BCCI’s vice president Rajeev Shukla confirmed the new office-bearers.

Ganguly didn’t get credit for BCCI’s accomplishments during 2019-2022. BCCI secretary got every credit for the conduction of IPL during the pandemic. Along with Shah, Arun Dhamal was credited for bringing 48,000 Crore to BCCI through the IPL Media Rights deal.

The former skipper also had a feud with one of the most loved cricketers of this generation, Virat Kohli. Two of them didn’t share a good bond as Kohli didn’t post for Ganguly’s birthday.

Sourav Ganguly endorses Class plus which is an ed-tech firm and a major rival to Byjus. Byjus has been BCCI’s biggest sponsor and it didn’t go well with the company. He also endorsed Xiaomi when Vivo was IPL’s title sponsor.

He was accused of attending selection meetings which he wasn’t supposed to. He had a rapport with BJP and was asked to stand as BJP’s face in the West Bengal elections. However, he declined since he didn’t want to criticise West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

However, he did two good things by bringing Rahul Dravid as the head coach and VVS Laxman as the NCA Director.
