Newcastle United are planning for the future, having agreed a deal to sign Australian striker Garang Kuol from A league club Central Coast Mariners. The player is expected to go on a loan, after his buyout clause worth $AUD500,000 was triggered by the Magpies.

He is only 18 years old, and doesn’t qualify for a UK work visa as of yet. Which is why he will be sent to gain experience in Portugal before he can join the Premier League side. The youngster is highly rated, and is expected to be the next big thing to come from down under.

The striker’s salary is also expected to increase following the move, which will put him at par with the highest earners in the NFL and AFL. Kuol is yet to start a senior game for the Central Coast Mariners, and has already been recruited by one of the top clubs in the world.

A medical has been scheduled for the young striker in the UK, and personal terms have also been agreed with him. Kuol made his A-League debut for the Central Coast Mariners in April, and went on to score four goals in his first seven appearances as a substitute.

It will be interesting to see how his development pans out, with Portugal expected to be an intermediary level of difficulty before he is tried in England.
