Greek centre-back Kostas Manolas has left Olympiacos to join Sharjah FC in the Middle East. The player’s contract was terminated by the Greek champions, and he has moved on a free transfer.

This will allow them to save his salary while the player takes on a new challenge at his new club. He has agreed a two-year deal with the club, until June 2024. According to Fabrizio Romano, there is an option for a further season in the deal as well.

Kostas Manolas to join Sharjah FC for two years

Over the last couple of seasons, the central defender has played for Roma and Napoli in Serie A before moving back to Greece last year. Things haven’t gone according to plan for Kostas Manolas, whose most prolific moment came in the Champions League against Barcelona when he scored the winner in their 2018 clash.

Manolas hasn’t been able to hold down a place in one of the top European leagues, and will now exit the continent for a new opportunity. He joins former Barcelona players Paco Alcacer and Miralem Pjanic, who have also signed for Sharjah FC this season.

Olympiacos, on the other hand, have been very active in the transfer window. They have signed James Rodriguez, Marcelo and Cedric Bakambu as their star signings of the summer to bolster their squad.
