IND-W vs ENG-W: Indian Women win the first ODI series in England’s ground in 23 years after Harmanpreet Kaur scored 143

The Indian women have scripted history by winning a series on England’s soil for the first time in 23 years, Harmanpreet Kaur scored an illustrious 143 whereas Renuka Thakur scalped four wickets, and that defeated England. India took a lead by 2-0 in the series and won the first ODI series on England’s ground since 1999.

Harmanpreet Kaur mustered 143 runs that helped India to post such a huge total. India lost Shefali Verma initially, and Smriti Mandhana and Yastika Bhatia couldn’t score big runs as well.

Harmanpreet and Harleen Deol played in the middle order, both reached their 50s which helped the team increase their score. Deol returned to the pavilion at 58and that’s when Harmanpreet Kaur came.

She reached her century in 100 deliveries and had a 50-run partnership with Pooja Vastrakar. Kemp picked Deepti Sharma’s wicket and put an end to the 71-run partnership between Deepti and Harmapreet. In the last 11 deliveries, Harmapreet scored 43 runs and took India to 333 runs.

England had a very poor start since Tammy Beaumont got run out By Harmanpreet Kaur. Sophia Dunkley got dismissed too and the hosts were at 12/2. Emma Lamb and Alice Capsey tried to uplift England’s scorecard but soon the former got dismissed by an LBW and by then the hosts had a scorecard of 47/3.

Dani Wyatt had a positive intention with her game and with Capsey, she shared an important partnership. Soon, Deepti Sharma took Capsey’s wicket as Shefali Verma got her to catch at the mid-off.

Amy Jones and Wyatt had a great partnership and the latter gave a fine performance by reaching her half-century in 40 deliveries. Together, they mustered 65 runs for the fifth wicket before Wyatt got dismissed by Renuka. Jones’s wicket was taken by Dayalan Hemalatha.

As wickets fell, England’s score was 182/8. Charlie Dean tried her best to pile as many runs as possible. She could finally score 37 runs and got dismissed at 245 runs.
