Bournemouth could be the next English side set for a takeover. NHL franchise Las Vegas Golden Knights owner Bill Foley is hopeful of completing a £150 million takeover of the Cherries from current owner Maxim Demin.

Foley is also backing a deal to acquire Ligue 1 side Lyon by the end of the month. The aim here is for him to develop a multi-club system including Bournemouth. This has been implemented by the City group who own the likes of Manchester City, New York City, Troyes and Mumbai City FC to name a few clubs.

Here is what Foley had to say about the venture earlier in a statement: ‘We have spent a significant amount of time analysing professional soccer in Europe and are excited to announce that we intend to invest with John Textor.

‘John has a unique vision of a multi-club football model and has already assembled some unique assets. John also has a differentiated view of how to monetise these assets to generate strong returns.’

Textor is a Crystal Palace shareholder, and also the majority shareholder at Brazilian side Botofago. He has been given a £450 million credit limit by Foley, as he is locked in negotiations with Lyon’s ownership to complete the takeover soon.

Chelsea’s ownership is also expected to follow a similar model, with Todd Boehly in talks with Jorge Mendes to purchase a Portuguese club.
