Asia Cup 2022: India won against Afghanistan by 101 runs, Virat Kohli hits his 71st international century

India’s last match in Asia Cup 2022 was quite memorable. India won the game by a huge margin and Virat Kohli smashed his maiden ton and 71st century with the help of twelve fours and six 6s. After losing against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage, the handsome win against Afghanistan boosted their confidence before the T20I World Cup.

The last match that the Blue army played in Asia Cup 2022 would be remembered by the fans. Although the Men in Blue missed the finals but the world got to witness the vintage Virat Kohli as he piled by 122 runs in 61 balls. Afghanistan was outplayed by 101 runs in the Super 4 stage in Dubai on Thursday. Kohli’s century helped the team post a total of 212/2. It took him 53 deliveries to reach the ton. Rohit Sharma took was on rest so the stand-in skipper KL Rahul and Virat Kohli opened the innings. Rahul scored 62 runs off 41 deliveries. After he got out, Suryakumar Yadav came to bat but returned back to the pavilion in the same over. Kohli and Rishabh Pant actually drove the innings, Besides Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal were rested and Deepak Chahar, Dinesh Karthik, and Axar Patel came in as replacements for the trio. In the second innings, Afghanistan had a horrible start, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar attacking the Afghan batters. He got five wickets in four overs. Arshdeep Singh, R Ashwin, and Deepak Hooda picked one wicket each.

The Afghanistan team looked tired as they played the next game less than 24 hours after losing to Pakistan. They dropped very easy catches and didn’t react when Kohli went aggressive with his bat.
