Bangladeshi player Mushfiqur Rahim announced his retirement from T20Is

Wicket-keeper and batter from Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim announced his retirement from T20Is though he’ll be playing ODIs and Tests. He represented his country in 102 T20Is where he mustered about 1500 runs with an average of 19.5 and a strike rate of 115. He had a bad season in Asia Cup 2022 scoring 1 and 4 in two games. In T20Is he has played 93 matches.

Before playing for the national team, he played for Bangladesh Under-19. He also represented them in three Youth Tests and 18 Youth One Dat International (ODIs).

Bangladesh’s loss against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka has played a major part to this decision. The modern T20I has a lot of demands that Rahim failed to meet that made him take the decision. He took Twitter and official Fcebook page to announce this decision.

“I would like to announce my retirement from T20 INTERNATIONALS and focus on Test and ODI formats of the game. I will be available to play in franchise leagues when the opportunity arrives. Looking forward to proudly representing my nation in the two formats-MR15,”- the tweet read.

He has been one of the major part of Bangladesh’s squadfor years and gave a tough fight ti India in 2016’s T20 World Cup. He hasn’t played a lot of T20 leagues globally but featured in Bangladesh Premier League but his strike rate wasn’t the best.

He has been the skipper of Bangladesh for sometime and is considered to be of the greatest players that Bangladesh has ever produced.
