Intel Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon CPU specifications Leaked

There have been leaks of the complete specifications for Intel’s Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon CPU range for the Eagle Stream platform. The most recent information on the SKUs is provided by YuuKi AnS and is based on the most recent data given to OEMs.

Intel is employing a quad multi-tile chiplet design for Sapphire Rapids-SP, which will be available in HBM and non-HBM varieties. The chip functions as a single SOC, with each thread having full access to all resources on all tiles despite the fact that each tile is its own independent unit. This consistently delivers low latency and high cross-section bandwidth over the whole SOC.

By offloading common-mode activities to these specialised accelerator engines, which will boost performance and shorten the time required to complete the required work, the accelerator engines will increase the effectiveness of each core.

Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon CPUs will introduce CXL 1.1 for accelerator and memory expansion in the data centre market in terms of I/O advances. Additionally, there is a new 8S-4UPI performance-optimized topology and better multi-socket scaling via Intel UPI, enabling up to 4 x24 UPI links at 16 GT/s. Along with supporting Optane Persistent Memory 300 series, the cache is increased by more than 100 MB thanks to the new tile architecture design.

On the Eagle Stream platform, the Sapphire Rapids series will support PCIe Gen 5.0 and utilise 8-channel DDR5 memory at speeds of up to 4800 Mbps (C740 chipset).

The LGA 4677 socket, which will take the place of the LGA 4189 socket for Intel’s future Cedar Island and Whitley platforms, which will house Cooper Lake-SP and Ice Lake-SP processors, respectively, will also be introduced by the Eagle Stream platform. The CXL 1.1 interconnect that will be included with the Intel Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon CPUs will be a significant achievement for the blue team in the server market.

A 350W TDP and 60 cores are present in the top portion. This configuration is intriguing because it is categorised as a low-bin split version, indicating that a tile or MCM design will be used. Each tile in the 4-tile arrangement of the Sapphire Rapids-SP Xeon CPU will have 14 cores.

The Intel Xeon Platinum 8490H, the line’s top model, features 60 Golden Cove cores, 120 threads, 112.5 MB of L3 cache, single-core turbo boosting up to 3.5 GHz, all-core turbo boosting up to 2.9 GHz, and a base TDP of 350W.
