Chelsea are planning ahead in terms of transfers, and have submitted a €90 million bid for Josko Gvardiol of RB Leipzig. The Bundesliga side were not willing to sell him this summer, and continue to maintain this position.

As a result, he will be staying at the club for the coming season and will move to Stamford Bridge in 2023. According to Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs are in advanced negotiations and are expected to reach an agreement over the transfer very soon.

Josko Gvardiol to join Chelsea in 2023

The Croatian has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer. However, no move for him materialised even though he was linked with the Blues during the initial few weeks of the window.

Now, Chelsea are getting ahead in the race to sign him next summer with an early negotiation in place right now. Manchester City were also interested in signing the 20-year-old, but are now turning their attention to Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji as a last-minute signing for around €17 million.

Josko Gvardiol primarily operates as a centre-back, but can feature as a left-back as well. He has a contract with the Red Bull club until 2026, which has made his valuation climb up so high. So, should negotiations be fruitful, Gvardiol could make the move to West London next summer after a season with the German side.
