The Indian duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty had their heartbreak moment for the 6th time as they got defeated by the Malaysians in the Men’s Doubles Semifinals. They once again had to settle for the bronze medal. The Malaysian pair of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik proved their worth once again. Though Satwik and Chirag won game 1 but couldn’t win against the opponent.
What happened in their game
- Game 1: The Indian duo won the 1st Game by 22-20.
- Game 2: In the second game, the Indian duo dominated the game initially but the Malaysians soon caught up with fast-paced exchanges, they restored the parity by winning 21-18.
- Game 3: This time it was a neck-neck competition as Malaysians were on the fifth gear. Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik won 5 points in a row and got qualified for the finals. The final score was 22-20, 18-21, 16-21. In the finale, they are set to play against Ashan- Setiawan.

Sadly, it was the sixth time that the duo lost against the Malaysian duo. In the commonwealth games as well, Satwiksairaj and Chirag lost to the same combination in the finals.
Though India couldn’t win but Indian pair made a comeback with a medal after 11 years. In 2011, Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa bagged a bronze medal.
The Indian pair won the bronze medal by their hard work and the entire nation is proud of them This is the first time that the Indian men’s Doubles have accomplished this feat.
