World Badminton Championship: HS Prannoy reached the quarterfinals after defeating Lakshya Sen, Saina Nehwal Ousted

HS Prannoy defeated Lakshya Sen in the quarterfinals of World Badminton Championship in Tokyo, this Thursday. He beat him 17-21, 21-16 ,and 21-17. On the other hand, badminton star Saina Nehwal got knocked out whereas Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty reached the quarterfinal after they won over Jthe eppe-Lasse pair from Denmark, 21-21-10.

How did the Indians perform at the World Badminton Championship

M.R Arjun and Dhruv Kapila got into the quarterfinals too after beating Hee Yong Kai and Terry-Loh Kean Hean 18-21, 21-15 ,and 21-16.

In Men’s Doubles, M.R Arjun and Dhruv Kapila defeated Hee Yong and Loh Kean from hong Kong  18-21, 21-15, 21-16.

Saina Nehwal lost to Busanan Ongbamrungphan (Thailand) 17-21, 21-16 and 13-21.

IN Men’s Doubles,  Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty defeated Jeppe Bay & Lasse Molhede (Denmark) 21-12, 21-10.

In Men’s Singles, HS Prannoy defeated Lakshaya Sen 17-21, 21-16 and 21-17. 

Earlier, HS Prannoy had beaten Kento Momota in the last game. For Prannoy, things didn’t go as expected in the first match as he lost at 17-21 but he buckled up.

In the semifinal, both the Indian players had an amazing fight and it was a quality game. Prannoy won the second game over Lakshya Sen and reached the quarterfinals.

In the women’s singles, Saina Nehwal lost to Busanan from Thailand. Nehwal showed a lot of dedication in the second game after she lost the first one. Busanan dominated the decider and secured the last eight spot.

There were very less expectations from M.R Arjun and Dhruv Kapila. Their opponent pairHee and Loh were quite impressive in the first game but soon the Indian pairbuckled up to win their second and third game.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty weren’t a surprise at all. They had an easy victory over Jeppy Bay and Lasse Molhede in the pre-quarters 21-12 and 21-10.
