Premier League: Harry Redknapp’s Team of the Week – Erling Haaland “nailed on to be top of the scoring charts”

BetVictor Brand Ambassador Harry Redknapp has selected his first Premier League Team of the Week of the 2022-23 season, with new signings Erling Haaland, Leeds United’s Brenden Aaronson, and Brighton’s Pascal Gross impressing the former Spurs manager on the day.

Harry Redknapp’s Premier League Team of the Week:

Goalkeeper – Illan Meslier

Leeds looked lively against Wolves on Saturday, but they had their goalkeeper to thank on more than one occasion. Meslier saved them a few times, including a crucial one just before the break. He makes himself big, which all good keepers’ do. He looks very solid in there.

Defender – Oleksandr Zinchenko

Arsenal looked terrific on Friday night. They put together some fantastic moves, and new recruit Oleksandr Zinchenko looked lively all night. He’s never afraid to get on the ball and always looks dangerous. It looks like he’ll fit this Arsenal team like a glove. I’m really looking forward to seeing how he’ll develop this season.

Defender – William Saliba

Another Arsenal man that caught my eye was William Saliba. I’m always impressed by centre backs that rarely go to ground, and he’s looks like one of them. He reads the game so well and is a bit of a throw-back to those famous Gunners’ centre-backs of old.

Defender – Eric Dier

Spurs were rampant on Saturday, despite going a goal down. There were plenty of top performances in there, but it was Eric Dier that stood out for me. His goal was right out the top drawer, one Harry Kane would’ve been proud of. And he was solid all day long as well. On his day, he’s a top player.

Defender – Jefferson Lerma

That was some performance from Bournemouth. They were outstanding on Saturday, and I thought Jefferson Lerma looked fantastic. What a start to the season for him, grabbing his goal right at the beginning of the match. I think he’ll be a big player for the Cherries this season. He’s a big and strong lad who impressed that’s for sure.

Forward – Dejan Kulusevski

Dejan Kulusevski. Now, let me tell you, this lad can play. I don’t think he wasted one ball on Saturday, a constant threat down the right-hand side. He’s got an assured touch and always looks confident. He was the best player on the pitch at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and took his goal beautifully. He’ll be in my Team of the Week a lot this season, that’s for sure.

Midfielder – N’golo Kante

Chelsea got off to a good start in a disciplined performance away to Everton. Typically, Ngolo Kante was a complete nuisance for the home side. He chased everything, got in their faces and broke up play. Exactly what you need when you visit Goodison Park.

Midfielder – Brenden Aaronson

Leeds manager, Jesse Marsch, looks like he’s picked up a cracker in Brenden Aaronson. They know each other well having worked together at Salzburg, and you can see why Marsch has brought him in. He suits Leeds perfectly. Loads of energy, a constant threat. He got his goal as well, so he’ll be delighted with his Premier League debut.

Midfielder – Pascal Gross

That was a stunning result for Brighton yesterday. Pascal Gross will never forget it, that’s for sure. He took both his goals fantastically well and played well throughout the match. He’s a solid player, always reliable and rarely lets you down.

Forward – Aleksandar Mitrović

Some have called him a flat track bully, but that performance from Aleksandar Mitrović should keep his critics at bay. He was unplayable at times against Liverpool and caused Virgil van Dijk all sorts of problems. If he continues in that vein, he’ll be right up there in the scoring charts this season.

Forward – Erling Haaland

We were all waiting to see Erling Haaland make his debut yesterday, and he didn’t disappoint. I can see this lad racking up a lot of goals. His movement is superb, and the more City’s midfielders get used to having him there, the more chances he’ll take. His turn of foot is frightening and, for me, looks nailed on to be top of the scoring charts.
