Samsung Galaxy S23 will have exclusive Qualcomm Snapdragon Processors

This year, there have been rumours that the Galaxy S23 will only use Snapdragon processors. For these flagship phones, the company has historically employed a combination of Qualcomm Snapdragon and its Exynos chipsets. Next year, that might completely change.

Qualcomm has practically declared that only Snapdragon chipsets would be used to power the Galaxy S23. Additionally, it was noted that more Samsung goods than ever before will feature Snapdragon chipsets.

Exynos’ proportion in the mixture has already been cut in half considerably. Seventy per cent of all Galaxy S22 devices had a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, while thirty per cent had an Exynos.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series will only use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 model.

Following the release of the company’s quarterly financial results, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon participated in a Q&A session with analysts and provided some insight on the subject. Before this, Qualcomm had disclosed that it has extended its contract with Samsung for the next seven years, or until 2030. The collaboration “includes PCs, tablets, extended reality, and more in addition to Galaxy smartphones,” he added.

In response to an analyst’s questions about further details on this deal with Samsung, Amon added that “The way you should think about it is Snapdragon will power their Galaxy product line, their Galaxy flagship products. And what I can say at this point is we were 75% on Galaxy S22 before the agreement. You should be thinking about we’re going to be much better than that on Galaxy S23 and beyond.”

He continued by saying that Qualcomm would supply power to Samsung devices everywhere. This shows that Samsung will probably stop relying as heavily on Exynos chipsets. It previously only provided Exynos-based chipsets to the rest of the world, while providing Snapdragon chipsets to devices in a select few areas. It appears that beginning in the next year, this may finally alter.

Amon also pointed out that this new agreement with Samsung extends beyond Galaxy smartphones and includes “Galaxy books, Windows PCs, Galaxy tablets, future extended reality devices and other devices. So a very significant agreement, very excited and the companies are much closer together.”

Many Samsung fans will be pleased with this development because, in recent years, Exynos chipsets have struggled to compete with their Snapdragon rivals. Customers believed they were treated unfairly just because they resided in an area where the Snapdragon processor was not used. This indicates that Samsung will probably continue to use Exynos for mid-range and entry-level devices in the future.
